I believe in God. There is hardly anyone who would find it impossible to subscribe to this statement. There is more to belief in God than just saying you believe. True belief not only subscribes to the existence of God but also places one’s faith completely in Him.
A more important question is, what do I believe about God?
There are several things that I would have you consider with me today concerning our God.
- He is Almighty
- To say that God is almighty recognizes that there is nothing beyond the power and ability of God. There are three words that express this fact.
- He is omnipotent
- Psalm 115:3 “But our God is in the heavens: He hath done whatsoever he hath pleased.”
- He is omniscient (knows all things)
- Hebrews 4:13 “Neither is there any creature, which is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and open unto his eyes, with whom we have to do.”
- Psalm 147:5 “Great is our Lord, and great is his power: his wisdom is infinite.”
- I John 3:20 “For if our hearts condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.”
- He is omnipresent (everywhere present at once)
- Psalm 139:7-12 “thou art there”
- He is omnipotent
- To say that God is almighty recognizes that there is nothing beyond the power and ability of God. There are three words that express this fact.
- He is the Creator
- Genesis 1
- Out of nothing, He brought the universe into being
- Science generally agrees that the world came into being by a spontaneous action
- Some say as a break off from the sun or another planet
- God says by His creative hand
- By His own authority, He made everything that came to dwell on the Earth
- An Almighty God is the only one who could keep order and purpose in this world
- Science generally agrees that the world came into being by a spontaneous action
- Out of nothing, He brought the universe into being
- Genesis 1
- He is the Sustainer

- Genesis 28:15 “And lo, I am with thee, and will keep thee whithersoever thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land: for I will not forsake thee until I have performed that, that I have promised thee.”
- Our protector
- Psalm 121:2-4 “Mine help cometh from the Lord, which hath made them heaven and the earth. He will not suffer thy foot to slip: for he that keepeth thee, will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel, will neither slumber nor sleep.”
- Our watchman
- Psalm 121:5-8 “The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shadow at thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall keep thy soul. The Lord shall preserve thy going out, and thy coming in from henceforth and forever.”

What relevance does all of this have for us today?
- The fact that He is Almighty shows us that our God is without limit in His power and works.
- The fact that He is the Creator shows us that we are God’s creatures in a personal relationship with Him, and that this universe has a purpose, unity, and order.
- The fact that He is Sustainer means the Almighty God who created us also cares for us and has His mighty hand upon us day by day and hour by hour.
- We are responsible to Him
