Salt of the Earth

Matthew 5:13

  1. As salt is nothing of itself but finds its value in its effect upon other materials, so the Christian is aware that he is nothing in himself, but his true value is in affecting others.
  2. As salt can lose its primary purpose and be cast off, so the Christian can deflect his purpose and become useless.
    • Antidote – Matthew 5:6. “Blessed is he who hungers and thirsts after righteousness for he shall be satisfied.”
  3. As salt is an agent to create thirst, so the Christian can create a desire for others to follow the Lord.
