True Love

I Corinthians 13

1. Love is essential, not optional. (Verse 1-3)
   • Three times in the first three verses the phrase “but do not have love” is stated. Then Paul tells us the result:
     • Noisy gong, clanging cymbal. (verse 1)
     • I am nothing.
     • Profits nothing.
   • Takeaway love is like a car without wheels.
2. Love is a demonstration, not a feeling.
   • Love is demonstrative.
   • Love is a commitment.
3. Love is a magnet that draws us together. (Verses 4-7)
   • Patient.
   • Kind.
   • Not jealous.
   • Not bragging.
   • Not arrogant.
   • Does not act unbecomingly.
   • Does not seek its own.
   • Does not provoke.
   • Does not take in account wrongs of others.
   • Does not rejoice in unrighteousness.
   • Rejoices with truth.
   • Bears all things.
   • Believes all things.
   • Hopes all things.
   • Endures all things.
   • Love NEVER fails.
