Messages from the Risen Savior

John 20:19-23

“As the father has sent me, even so send I you.”

  1. What did it mean for the Father to send the Son?
    1. It meant losses.
      1. Certain things were set aside when Jesus came to Earth.
    1. It meant separation.
      1. Jesus prayed for the glory He had with the Father.
    1. It would mean forsakenness.
      1. Why have You forsaken me?
  2. What it means to us to be sent by the Son.
    1. It is not a loss, but a gain.
      1. It is an enrichment to be able to share Christ’s ministry.
    1. It is not a separation, but a union.
      1. We are ambassadors of Christ.
      1. II Corinthians 5:20 “as ambassadors we are seeking to have others embrace Christ.”
    1. It is not being forsaken but empowered.
      1. Jesus breathed on them and said, “receive the Holy Spirit breath.” Same word as when God breathed and man became a living being.
