A very apt expression that flows from the lips of God’s children is, “Praise the Lord!”
This is appropriate. Jesus said if we do not praise Him, the rock will. This is praiseworthy. It shows we recognize the source of our blessings. Today, we think specifically about God’s mercy as a way we praise Him. Mercy is when God gives us what we don’t deserve.
In this passage, we see that because of the benefits lavished on us, every Christian has reason to praise God for that great mercy.
- He has provided full salvation (I Peter 1:5)
- This salvation is freeing
- We are delivered from the curse of sin
- This salvation is lasting
- Ready to be revealed at the last day
- Not saved for a little while
- Keeps us to the last time
- Keeps/protects
- This salvation is freeing
- He preserves our inheritance (I Peter 1:4)
- With God there is no danger of it being eaten away
- Moths and rust have no power over it
- It is incorruptible
- There is no danger of it losing its value
- It won’t be defiled
- It is secure
- Reserved in Heaven
- With God there is no danger of it being eaten away
- He promotes a living hope (I Peter 1:3)
- We are born again
- Produces life
- Guaranteed
- Christ’s resurrection is the guarantee
- We are born again
Therefore, we have every reason to praise God for His mercy. What He has done, provided, and promised was not out of obligation but out of pure love.
