The conditions of today reveal the need for someone to whom we may turn for help in unsettling times. (i.e., Vietnam, the Middle East, demonstrations in our own land)
God has revealed himself to be our ever-present help.
- Our refuge
- God provided a city of refuge to the Levites (I Chronicles 6:67)
- God is our refuge
- When Israel was at the Red Sea (Exodus 14)
- When Daniel was in the lion’s den (Daniel 6)
- When Peter and John were in prison (Acts 4)
- When Paul was in the shipwreck (Acts 27 & 28)
- When Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were in the fiery furnace (Daniel 3)
- Our strength
- God’s promise in Isaiah 41:10
- Do not fear, I am with you
- Do not be dismayed, I am your God
- I will strengthen you, and I will help you
- I will uphold you with my righteous right hand
- Gideon took 3,200 warriors to battle, but won with 300 (Judges 7)
- God’s promise in Isaiah 41:10
- Our confidence
- Be still and know that I am God
- Elijah didn’t find God in the fire, wind, or earthquake, but in the whisper of God (I Kings 19)
- In patience
- Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord! (Psalm 27:14)
- Be still and know that I am God
God is our very present help at all times. He is our refuge in whom we hide. He is our strength for daily living. He is our help. But we must learn to seek Him in the way in which this strength will be supplied. The greatest lesson we can learn is to be still and know that He is God.
