Mighty King David finds himself in a very dangerous and awkward position. He is king of Israel, yet he is being hunted by his very own son.
Absalom became greedy and wanted his father’s throne, so he meticulously set about to win the attention and affection of his father’s subjects. After he won a large enough group, he went seeking his father’s life in order that he might become king of Israel.
This Psalm was written by David during this time. This Psalm expresses the confidence and trust to be found in the Lord.
- God is our great defense
- He protects
- He encourages
- He lifts up our head
- God is our peace
- Peace comes in knowing that the Lord understands our needs
- Peace comes by resting our needs in Him
- He could sleep in the midst of this
- The Lord would sustain him always
- God is our hope
When problems come our way and it seems the enemy is everywhere, how wonderful it is to be able to simply put our cause in the hands of the Lord and follow Him.
