Kingdom Builders

Nehemiah 1

Kingdom Builders! What does this mean?

We are going to see that, based on the assurances we have in Christ Jesus, we can be people and a church who serve to build His Kingdom. We will be looking at a number of people who were kingdom builders and seek to find in them the elements that enabled them to be builders for the Kingdom of God, and seek to emulate them in those respects.

Today, we look at Nehemiah. There are a number of things in his experience that we want to consider that made him a good Kingdom builder.

  • Heart for God’s work
    • Nehemiah’s place
      • Exiled in Persia
      • Responsible position in the kingdom
    • His concerns
      • Conditions back home
      • The city in ruin was a reproach against God
  • Burden for God’s work
    • God placed a burden on the need in Jerusalem
    • With the burden, God gave a plan
      • Go and rebuild!
  • Action to do God’s work
    • God prepared a way for Nehemiah to do God’s work
      • He would lead the building of the city
    • Provisions for the task

We are called to be kingdom builders, too. To some God will entrust some kinds of work, and to others He will give another part of His work.

There were two great things in Nehemiah’s heart. He had concern for the witness of God in a ruined city. He desired the reestablishment of the law in the hearts of the people.

God gave Nehemiah the burden of building because he was skilled in this area of leadership. Ezra was given the task of reestablishing the law in the hearts of the people.

Do you have a heart for being a kingdom builder? Present yourself to God to do what He has gifted you to do.
