Genesis 41:1-13 & Genesis 41:25-32
To show through an analysis of this Scripture that God can make all things work out for our good.
Studying the life of Joseph is a very interesting and profitable experience. There were so many things that happened to him that have parallels in our lives today, to one degree or another, that we can really be helped.
We have chosen to call this series Living in an Alien Culture because that is exactly what we Christians are doing. The Bible clearly states that this world is not the primary place of our citizenship; rather, our citizenship is in heaven from the time we seek the Lord.
Today, we look at being an alien in a land where you are wronged. Do you ever feel that, because you are a Christian, there are prejudices and wrongs that you face just because you are a Christian?
As we look at Joseph’s life, there are some important things for us to remember.
- All things that happen in our lives are not good in themselves
- Potifer’s wife lying
- Being in prison
- Joseph’s treatment by the cupbearer
- Being forgotten for 2 years after a strong favor
- God can transform events to make them bring about good
- Joseph found favor with the jailer (Genesis 39:21-33)
- The cupbearer to Pharaoh was there, giving access to authority
- Dreams interpretations
- It took 2 years
- Joseph interprets Pharaoh’s dream (Genesis 41:25-32)
- This brings him to a place where he can do much good
What does Joseph’s experience teach us?
God is in control of every situation.
God can and does fulfill His promises.
God does work for our good as we put our trust in Him.
Everything may not be pleasant, but God will work it for good.
