Ephesians 5:22 – 6:9

  • Submission is a hot-button word that we need to understand
    • Submission does not mean inferiority
    • Submission is not inequality
    • Submission is an act of yielding to the leadership of another
  • Christ is the head of the church
    • The church is subject to Him
    • His purpose is to perfect the church
    • Marriage is a sequel that illustrates Christ and the church
      • The responsibility
        • Wives are to submit
        • Husbands are to love
          • As Christ does
          • As one loves his own body
    • When submission and love exist hand in hand, there is harmony
  • Harmony in the home (Ephesians 6:1-4)
    • Obedience of the children
      • This has a promise (Deuteronomy 5:16)
    • Responsibility of the parents
  • Harmony in professional relationships (Deuteronomy 6:5-9)
    • Bondservant role
    • Responsibility – obey
    • Master – non-threatening
