Our Riches Found Through Christ Jesus
The letter was written from prison (house arrest) in Rome where Paul was confined for about two years (Acts 28:30). This letter, along with Colossians, Philemon, and Philippians make up the Prison Epistles. This letter was written around 62 A.D.
This letter emphasizes that the church (body of believers) is the body of which Christ is the head.
The book is divided into two sections. Chapters 1 through 3 bring out the doctrine and show the riches (wealth) we have through our Lord. Chapters 4 through 6 show the practical application (work) of how we carry out the teachings of Chapters 1 through 3.
