Promises from God

Promises from God

Revelation 21:1-7

To show through an analysis of this Scripture God has given promise of a new home for the saints that is far superior to anything we experience today.

In Jesus’ address to His disciples in which He announced His upcoming departure from Earth, He said, “I go to prepare a place for you.” (John 14:2)

This place Jesus is making ready for His people is called the Kingdom of God, some people call it Heaven. It is the place that God has provided to be the everlasting home of His people after this earth as we know it is destroyed.

  • The person of this promise (Revelation 21:5-6)
    • It is important to take note of who makes the promise
      • The eternal God
        • Alpha and Omega
      • The true and faithful
  • The place of this promise (Revelation 21:1-3)
    • The Earth made new (II Peter 3:10-12)
    • The place where God dwells with His people
  • The power of this promise (Revelation 21:4)
    • The purge
      • No more weeping
      • No more mortality (death)
      • No more sorrow
      • No more pain
    • The presence
      • God will be there
      • He will be there in glory, no need of any other light
  • The permanence of this promise
    • For overcomers
      • Those who trust in the Lord
    • The scope of the inheritance
      • All things
    • God’s presence gives
      • Great splendor
      • No need of sun & moon (Revelation 21:23)
      • God is the center of worship (Revelation 21:22)
      • Nothing impure
    • Reserved for redeemed people

Having looked at these assurances and knowing God is true to His word, we can rest assured what God has prepared for us is far grander than we can imagine and certainly worth our trust in Him to provide it.
