The Judgement
To show what our standing will be in the judgement and to help the people become certain of their relationship to Christ.
When we consider the judgment that we shall all face on the last day, there are other things that have to be considered. Our standing in the judgment will be determined by our understanding and acceptance of other important matters.
One of these considerations is the matter of redemption. Recently, we considered the implications of redemption when we considered Jesus purchased our freedom from the slave market of sin and declared us free.
To understand judgment more clearly, there is another consideration we need to investigate.
- Atonement (II Corinthians 5:14-15)
- The sins of the world were put on Christ in a moment of time
- Why did Christ do it?
- “For the joy set before Him, He endured the cross” (Hebrews 12:2)
- You are the joy set before Christ
- Sin no longer needs to stand as a barrier between God and man
- The sins were put on Christ
- Christ paid the price for sin
- Men will either depend on the atonement or rely on his own good works
- The judgment (Revelation 20:11)
- Two books for judgment
- Book of deeds
- This book records what we have done
- Book of life
- This book records all the names of those who believed Christ
- Book of deeds
- When we reject the works of Christ, we automatically trust in our works
- Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. (John 3:18)
- Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them. (John 3:36)
- What of those who never heard?
- But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked. (Luke 12:48)
