Spiritual Signs of Christ’s Coming

Revelation 3:14-22

Purpose and aim: To show the spiritual decadence that now exists is a sign of Christ’s coming and to turn the people from this condition to a vital relationship with Christ.

Many spiritual signs in God’s Word tell us of the approach of the Second Coming of Christ.

Jesus said that in the last days, the love of many would wax cold because men would be lovers of themselves rather than lovers of God. (II Timothy 3)

• Indictment (Revelation 3:15-17)
  • Indictment of spiritual decadence
    • You are neither hot nor cold therefore I will purge thee out of my mouth
• Ignorance concerning their condition
  • Self-evaluation – I am rich, increased with goods, and require nothing
  • God’s evaluation – wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked
• Days of secularism
  • “I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?” (Luke 18:8)
• Days of gross evil
  • Let’s not say, “We have never had it so bad.”
  • The Second Coming of Christ will be as it was in the days of Noah (Matthew 24:37)
• An invitation (Revelation 3:18-20)
  • Let Christ supply the needs
  • Let Christ enter your fellowship

For the person who will overcome these conditions, there is a wonderful privilege. (Revelation 3:21)
