Study of Acts – Chapter 3

Acts 3

Last time we saw the birth of the church with the very important event of the coming of the Holy Spirit to be living in the lives of believers. As we proceed in this study, we will be observing what the Holy Spirit was doing through these men and women. Today our attention is drawn to this event of the healing of a lame man.

The healing of the lame man (Acts 3:1-26)

  • The people God used (Acts 3:1)
    • Peter and John
      • Were Peter and John the only ones who could be used by God for this miraculous act? Why do you think they may have been chosen?
      • Their purpose
        • Prayer
      • The predicament (Acts 3:2 & 3)
        • Lame – crippled his entire life
        • Left to beg which was his only means of support
        • The anticipation of money (Acts 3:3)
        • The answer (Acts 3:6-11)
          • No money
          • Something worth more than money
          • The result
            • Healing
              • The man lame since birth didn’t have the strength to walk
              • Immediately his feet and ankles received strength
              • He stood
              • He walked
              • He leapt
            • Praise to God
            • Amazement by the people
              • The people were familiar with this man
      • The message (Acts 3:12-26)
        • The source of the man’s healing (Acts 3:12-18)
          • The very One whom they had killed (Acts 3:13-16)
          • It was all part of God’s plan (Acts 3:17-18)
        • The action needed (Acts 3:19-26)
          • Repent
          • Turn to the Lord
          • This was not a new message, but one from a new vantage point
          • This shows that these men were indeed Jesus’ representatives for there is a plan
