Acts 1:6-11

To show through an analysis of the Biblical support of the Word, “He ascended into Heaven, and sits at the right hand of the Father Almighty” that we have powerful support for our daily living.

Sufficiency of Christ

Can you imagine the number of words it took to write a thirty-volume set of the Encyclopedia Britannica? It must be an awesome number, but an even more interesting thing is that only twenty-six different letters were used. The authors did not have to go outside of the alphabet to assemble that massive collection of knowledge. It provided them everything they needed for one task.

Jesus Christ called himself the Alpha and Omega, and we do not have to go outside of Him for anything that we need. He is God’s “everything” for all situations.

As we continue to look at the Apostle’s Creed, one of the things that stands out is the importance of the work of Jesus Christ on our behalf.

A consideration of the Biblical basis for the statement, “He ascended into Heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty” will give us an expanded understanding of Jesus’ present activity on our behalf.

  • He is exalted
    • He became lower than the angels at His incarnation (Philippians 2:8)

    • His position as the right hand gives Him authority to act

  • He has the ear of the Father
  • He knows the heart of the Father
• The purpose to bless
  • He is our advocate – to defend
